PAEC, CPIH to cooperate in power projects

KARACHI: Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and China Power International Holding Ltd (CPIH) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for general cooperation between two entities in respect of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor-related power projects.

Addressing the ceremony on Monday evening, PAEC chairman Mohammad Naeem said CPIH would engage the services of PAEC in the execution of coal-fired power plants. “This MoU would be a landmark achievement in fostering the cooperation between PAEC, CPIH State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) for mutual benefits,” Naeem added.

PAEC is a leading organisation in the country with significant role in the socioeconomic uplift having vast experience in wide-ranging fields from nuclear power technology, scientific and engineering R&D, nuclear medicine and agriculture with full support from the Pakistan government. 

Naeem said that CPIH would engage PAEC for complete design of some plant buildings, welding, design and manufacturing of some equipment for China Power International Holding Ltd projects in Pakistan.

“CPIH may also engage PAEC for carrying out non-destructive and vibration testing, post-welding inspection of equipment and design / manufacturing of coal conveying system,” he said.

CPIH will send a team to various facilities of PAEC for self-assessment and details of cooperation between the two organisations and commission’s work scope would be outlined in these mutual meetings.
