LANDIKOTAL: The doctors, paramedical staff and political parties' activists staged a protest here on Monday against the proposed privatisation of Agency Headquarters Hospital.

Holding black flags, placards and banners inscribed with demands, the protesters chanted slogans against the privatisation of Landikotal hospital. They urged the high-ups to reverse the decision.

Young Doctors Association President Dr Ishaq, ex-president of Paramedic Association Khyber Agency Fazal Rahman, Awami National Party Landikotal chief Shah Hussain Shinwari, Pakistan People's Party Khyber Agency president Hazrat Wali Afridi, Jamaat-e-Islami Landikotal activist Muqtadar Afridi, Khyber Youth president Aamir Afridi and the leader of Tanzim-e-Ahle Sunnat Waljamat Ihsanullah Junaidi addressed the rally.

The speakers believed that the government was going to privatise the hospital in Landikotal that would create problems for the people. They threatened to widen the protest if the decision was not taken back. "We will continue our protest against the proposed privatisation," a protester said, threatening that the people would not hesitate to stage a sit-in in front of Governor's House in Peshawar. They alleged that elected representatives from Khyber Agency were also not playing their due role to address the issue.
