Rivals ought to prove gun can enforce Islam: Fazl
Asks scholars to adopt parliamentary outlook; urges protecting Namoos-e-Risalat in Pakistan at all costs; addresses Ulema Convention in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday Ulema would have to adopt a parliamentary outlook to solve people’s problems.
Addressing the Ulema Convention at Jamia Imdadia here, he said his party was making efforts to implement the Islamic system in the country through democratic and parliamentary politics. He said Ulema would have to unite for protecting themselves and Islamic values. He said they could ward off raids on madrassas only by gaining power through a parliamentary system.
He said those opposing the democratic and parliamentary system would have to prove that the Islamic system could be implemented through the use of gun. Otherwise, they would have to enter parliamentary politics and get themselves elected by people.
Fazl said we have no right to be counted among the living people if we fail to protect Namoos-e-Risalat (Honour of Holy Prophet - peace be upon him) in Pakistan, which was created in the name of Islam.
APP adds: Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the Jamiat Ulema-e-Council (JUC) had provided a platform to religious leaders and now it was their duty to use it for addressing people’s problems.
He said parliament is an authorised body for legislation, but legislation must be according to Holy Quran and Sunnah. He said the JUC was striving to convince people for leading their lives according to Islamic teachings. He said freedom was the basic right of every person. Therefore, it must be given without any discrimination.
Earlier, the Maulana also visited Madrassa Mahdul Faqeer in Jhang and delivered a lecture there.
