Local, foreign currency seized

Under the instructions of FIA Punjab Director Dr Usman Anwar, a team of FIA on Sunday raided a foreign currency exchange business at Anarkali, Lahore and arrested six persons allegedly involved in hundi/hawala business.

The raiding team was led by Jamil Ahmad Mayo, deputy director, FIA Corporate Crime Circle, Lahore. The accused, including Numan Sultan, Zahid Malik, Saghir Ishtiaq, Qadeer Malik, and Amin khan, were arrested on charges of doing illegal business of Hundi/Hawala. 

Talking to The News, Jamil Khan said the raiding team seized140 million Pak rupees, 5,000,000 Iranian Riyal, 47,045 Qatari Riyal, 69,020  Swiss Franc, 14,550 Indian rupees, 11, 000 Korean won, 1, 000,000 Iraqi dinar, 500 Afghani, 105 Egyptian pound, 11,590 South African rand,18,380  Hong Kong dollar, 1,057,000 Japanese yen, 2,640 Scottish pound, 33,551 Chinese yuan, 2,700 Turkish lira, 9,677 Omani riyal, 1,786 Bahraini dinar, 22,042 Malaysian ringgit, 161,050 Norwegian krone, 400 Singapore dollar, 51,900 Swedish krona,178,800  Danish Krone, 13410 Australian dollar, 25,725 Canadian dollar, 2,510 New Zealand dollar, 4401.5 Kuwaiti dinar, 1,324,113 US dollar, 246,645  UK pound, 480,515 UAE dirham and 1,326,113 Saudi riyal. The raiding team, he said, has also seized USBs, receipts/ ledgers regarding hawala etc from the premises. A case under Sections 4,8,23 FER ACT, 109 PPC, 4 AML ACT has been registered against the accused. 

PHP: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested 32 criminals and recovered 248 litre liquor and 1,580 gram charas from their possession. PHP teams arrested seven accused and recovered five pistols, three rifles and a dagger from their possession. Similarly, PHP teams arrested three persons and recovered stolen wood and two gas cylinders from their possession. PHP also rendered help to 3,174 road users.
