Under the umbrella of Innovative Learning Programme, students of Roots International Schools (RIS) from campuses all over the country participated in Eco Literacy Initiative (ELI) activities throughout the week, says a press release.

Open Day was celebrated at Richmond, Gandhara, Wellington, Stirling and Wah Cantt campuses, where students engaged in awareness presentations, learning natural environment functions and particularly how human beings can manage their behavior and ecosystem in order to live sustainably.

RIS is the first school in Pakistan to introduce ELI as a subject in its campuses. Roots takes the challenge to make students Eco Literate by involving them directly in group projects and 3D models in a fun but literate way. These projects bring awareness among students to love and save their planet, nurture respect for the natural world, heighten environmental awareness and to promote stewardship and develop deep ecological values.

Students made different projects and reused wasted material to make new things. Waste Free Lunch Day was also celebrated by IB Primary Years Programme Students to realize the importance of healthy diet and become more involved in health and nutrition awareness programme.

The whole week was filled with creative activities where students displayed their projects and skills. Mothers were invited to visualize their children's artifacts and accomplishments.  Roots International Schools promote and support the initiative 'Think Green Live Green.'
