Islamabad: The ban on kite-flying is being violated blatantly in various areas despite the fact that the preparations for the 23rd March fly-past are under way that indicates the danger currently associated with this illegal activity.

A number of facebook and twitter users made videos of kite-flying in their respective areas and posted them on the social media with message for the administration to take more effective measures to stop this act.

"It is good to see that many people made videos of kite-flying in various sectors of Islamabad and posted on the social media that may help administration reach those people who are violating the ban in this respect," said Naveed Zafar, a resident of Sector G-10.

It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration has imposed ban both on kite and pigeon flying and the police teams have been formed to arrest those who are involved in any of these acts. The notification issued in the context of 23rd March fly-past by the district administration especially pointed out that  “Pigeons and kites can cause accidents to the aircraft.” The local administration has maintained that some 40 persons have been arrested from the Fatima Jinnah Park who were flying kites in the open, besides suspending the SHO of the Margalla Police Station for showing negligence in this regard. "Strict action would be taken against all those who would be found involved in kite and pigeon flying so the residents should avoid getting involved in these illegal acts," it said.
