Release of funds for damaged infrastructure in Chitral demanded
CHITRAL: Tehsil council Chitral on Tuesday asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to release forthwith Rs18.4 million for rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by the recent snowfall in the district.
Speaking during the ongoing session of tehsil council councillors Muhammad Ali Shah, Sher Nazir, Fareeda Sultana and others termed the response of the provincial government to recent emergences disappointing.
They said the Tehsil Municipal Administration lacked funds to respond and cope with any emergency-like situation.The councillors said the district was prone to natural calamities and the tehsil council should have necessary means to cope with any emergency-like situation.
Tehsil Nazim Maulana Muhammad Ilyas also expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of Communication and Works (C&W), Public Health Engineering departments and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) in the aftermath of the snowfall and blizzard in the district. He said these departments had failed to restore and make operational the Golen Gole and Drosh Water Supply schemes after the recent snowfall in the mountainous district.
