SBP crush Haideri Traders
KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), K-Electric, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) won their first round matches of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II on Tuesday.
On the third and last day of the three-day Group A outing here at UBL Sports Complex, SBP annihilated Haideri Traders by an innings and 49 runs to collect all ten points.
After being forced to follow-on, Haideri Traders resumed their second innings at 187-7 and were folded for 218.
Kashif Bhatti, the spinner, captured 3-73.
SBP scored 353 in their first innings. In reply, Haideri Traders perished for only 86.
In a Group D game, at LCCA Ground, K-Electric overwhelmed Ghani Glass by nine wickets.
K-electric chased the 73 runs target in the tenth over after losing one wicket.
Having conceded 202 runs lead, Ghani Glass resumed their second innings at 135-4 and were bundled out for 274 in 129.4 overs.
Rizwan Hussain (89) and Waqas Khan (62) were their prominent scorers.
Left-arm rookie pacer Ghulam Mudassir, left-arm young spinner Hassan Khan, Waqar Anwar and Khushdil Shah got two wickets each.
Hassan, who played in the PSL for Quetta Gladiators, got five wickets in the show.
Ghani Glass scored 164 all out in their first innings. In response, K-Electric piled up 366-6 declared.
In a Group B show, at Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad, ZTBL whipped POL by 209 runs.
Set a target of 349, POL were bowled out for 139 with Sarmad Hameed scoring 59. Leg-spinner Usman Qadir, son of Test cricketer Abdul Qadir, captured 8-49, his best figures in an innings in any format of cricket.
ZTBL, who had closed the second day at 340-5, declared their second innings at the same score.
ZTBL posted 194 in their first innings. In response, POL made 186.
Here at NBP Sports Complex, CAA overpowered Pak Saudi International by nine wickets. CAA achieved the 55-run target in the 15th over for the loss of one wicket.
Pak Saudi International, who had conceded 122 runs lead, perished at 176 after resuming their second innings at 128-5.
Basit Ali and Shahid Nadeem got three wickets. Pak Saudi made 228 all out in their first innings.
In response, CAA made 350 all out.
The Group B show between Army and Capital Development Authority (CDA) ended in a draw at Army Ground, Rawalpindi, with the former taking three points due to their first innings lead.
CDA, who had conceded 87 runs lead, resumed their second innings at 80-3 and perished for 261 to set 174 runs target for Army, who scored 19 without loss by the end of the game.
Ali Sarfraz hit unbeaten 95 with nine fours and one six, while Abdul Aziz made 57 with nine fours and one six.
Shoaib Amir got 6-67.
CDA scored 229 all out in their first innings. In response, Army posted 316 all out.
At Pindi Stadium, IMEX held Customs to a draw with the latter taking three points due to their first innings lead.
After conceding 26 runs lead, IMEX posted 290 all out in their second innings to set 265 runs target for Customs who reached 93-2 by the end of the match.
Rizwan Ali (68) and Umair Sajid (65) batted well.
Mohammad Salman got 5-69.
IMEX posted 327 in their first innings. In response, Customs made 353 all out.
In a Group C clash, at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, Mohammad Jawad (173) and Usman Ashraf (171) saved Humak Engineering from a certain defeat as they guided their team to 588-9 in their second innings to set a target of 361 for Port Qasim Authority (PQA) who made 153-3 by the end of the match.
Humak Engineering had conceded 228 runs lead when in response to PQA’s first innings total of 329 all out they had perished only on 101.
At Sheikhupura, HEC held Income Tax to a draw. HEC made 403 all out and 375-5. Income Tax posted 318-5.
In Gujranwala, the game between PTV and Rahat and Shuja Impex also failed to yield any result. PTV posted 287 all out and 274-3. Rahat and Shuja scored 232 all out and 235-5.
The matches between NADRA and Brighto Paints and Railways and Omar Associates also ended in draw.
