DawnLeaks Commission not to meet Hamoodur Rehman Commission fate: Dar
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar says the fate of Dawn Leaks Commission would not be like the Hamoodur Rehman Commission adding that he fully supported making the commission report public.
Talking to a private news channel on Saturday, he said the commission was working on the issue but it was yet to submit its report.
He said the scuffle between the PML-N and PTI parliamentarians was regrettable adding, “It takes two a tango,” he said.
Ishaq Dar said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the PML-N members to show patience adding,
“If you punch your opponent in the face, the opponent will not salute you.”
Dar said Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had taken notice of the incident and an inquiry was underway.
He said decent politics should be promoted adding, “We all should jointly work to move the country forward.”
He said the circumstances created by the PTI were not hidden from anyone.
He said when the government came into power in 2013 the country's economy was almost bankrupt, but due to the strenuous efforts the economic situation was entirely different today.
“As a result of concrete steps taken by the government, the national economy is flourishing and growing with positive indicators," he added.
He said the international community was now acknowledging economic growth and Pakistan was ranked among the fast growing nations.
The minister said the PML-N government had been making sincere efforts to revise an agreement with the Swiss authorities to get access to the accounts of Pakistanis in their banks.
He said significant development had been made in that connection after negotiations with the authorities, and the government would sign a revised agreement on March 21.
Dar said the Swiss authorities had presented a number of terms and conditions for the revised agreement, but the government succeeded in doing so unconditionally.
He said the new agreement would enable the Government of Pakistan to get information about the Swiss bank accounts.
To a question, the minister said Panama Papers case was sub judice and a decision in this regard was expected in the coming days.
He said the name of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was not mentioned anywhere in Panama Papers.
Dar said when the PML-N government came into power in 2013 the country’s economy was almost bankrupt but with the efforts of the government the economic situation was entirely different today.
