Focal points set up for emergency alert system

The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority has directed the heads of Islamabad’s private schools and colleges to contact the police’s focal points in their respective areas for installation of emergency alert system on the mobile phones of their nominees.
The telecom regulator, PTA, in collaboration with Islamabad police and a software company, Pure Push, has developed a smart phone application, Mobile Emergency Alert System for Schools (MEASS), to help the city’s educational institutions sound the alarm and seek the police’s prompt help in case of an emergency security situation, including terrorist attack, suspicious activity or other calamity.
According to a PEIRA official, focal points for the MEASS installation have been established in Islamabad Capital Territory’s City, Rural, Industrial and Saddar zones. The City Zone’s focal point is at Punjab College of Information Technology in Aabpara with ASI Mian Khurram and IT expert Hafiz Qamar Abbas with deployed there; Saddar Zone’s at Elite International School in F-10/3 with ASI Samar Abbas and IT expert Imran Rafique there; Industrial Area Zone’s at Dar Ali Bin Talib in H-8/1 with ASI Atif Aslam and IT expert Abdul Wahab, and Rural Zone’s at Ali Trust College on Lehtrar Road in Khanna with ASI Sarwar Naeemi and IT expert Ms Kiran there.
