Teachers to hold protest rally tomorrow
LAHORE: United Teachers Council (UTC), Punjab, on Sunday announced taking out a protest rally against the School Education Department on Tuesday (tomorrow) for what it termed the department’s unjust and indifferent attitude towards schoolteachers.
In a statement, UTC leaders, including Tariq Mahmood, Hafiz Ghulam Mohiuddin, Hafiz Abdul Nasir and others said more than half of schoolteachers in Punjab were under the threat of PEEDA Act while bureaucracy was never held responsible.
They also expressed concern over non-upgradation of posts despite assurances on several occasions and said the schoolteachers would not be satisfied unless the government issued the notification this time. They announced taking out the protest rally from Nasser Bagh tomorrow.
