A two-day international conference on research and practices in education will be held at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) today (Friday) here.

It is a part of the University’s consistent efforts to overcome knowledge-gap between developed and developing countries in relevant discipline as well as promoting quality education and ensuring ‘Education for All.’

The conference is being arranged in collaboration with Higher Education Commission. Prominent educationists from US, Canada, Australia and China will attend the event as key-note speakers.

It will be an opportunity to find out ways and means to link the research’s findings with society’s socio-economic development, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while reviewing the conference’s arrangements.

He hoped that the event will enable the participants to rethink about the educational impact in bringing social change through education.

Recently, the University has focused on construction and disseminating of knowledge through publication of research journals and holding research-based conferences. It published nine journals and held twelve national and international conferences during the last two years.

The University has provided special incentive package to its faculty members as an encouragement to focus more on research-based activities.

According to Dr. Nasir Mahmood, dean, Education, the conference will deliberate upon the possible community-university linkages and practices. The university has invited about 300 researchers, scholars and professionals from home and abroad to present their work in various forms i.e. Oral paper presentations, round table discussions, and poster presentations.
