Govt reply sought on Sartaj’s role as minister

LAHORE

The Lahore High Court chief justice on Thursday sought reply from the government on a petition challenging the role of the adviser to prime minister on national security and foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, as a foreign minister.

Petition was moved on behalf of an organisation namely `Khudiy Khadmatgar’. Petitioner counsel said that Sartaj Aziz who was just an adviser but was working as foreign minister.

He alleged that Aziz was heading the meeting of Foreign Ministry and in foreign affairs of the country, he was performing as foreign minister, which was illegal.

He requested the court to issue order for removal of Sartaj Aziz from designation of adviser for using the office of foreign minister.

strike: Lahore Bar Association will observe strike on Friday (today) to condemn the bomb blasts in Lahore and the recent wave of terrorism in the country. The office-holders of the LBA in a statement said that the lawyer fraternity was with the nation in this need of hour. They demanded the government to arrange strict security measures for the courts of the country. They stated that lawyers would not attend hearings of their cases in all the lower courts of the city.
