Illegal houses demolished
NAWABSHAH: The district administration in cooperation with the police demolished more than a dozen houses constructed on the plot of Baitul Mal in the Housing Society area.
A heavy contingent of police conducted this operation. The affected persons staged protests and told the media that they were living on this plot for the past few years. They said that the administration had never intimidated them for relocating from this area.
On the other hand, Assistant Commissioner Faisal Saleem said that the evacuated land was the property of Baitul Mal, which is a department of the federal government. He said that after the removal of illegal constructions, a ‘Sweet Home’ would be constructed for orphans on this land.
He added that the planned construction would have more capacity than the present location of ‘Sweet Home’, which is in a rented building where the orphans were facing serious space issues.
