Sharjeel Khan claims innocence
KARACHI: Pakistan’s suspended opener Sharjeel Khan has claimed he has done nothing that could bring the country’s name into disrepute.
Speaking to reporters here at UBL Sports Complex, Sharjeel said that he was innocent and everything would be cleared soon.
Sharjeel was reluctant to speak to media initially because PCB had asked him to stay away from media. However, on insistence from his father, he only claimed his innocence before driving away. Sharjeel has been suspended along with his Islamabad United’s teammate Khalid Latif for alleged spot-fixing.
According to PCB, the duo confessed to the crime initially but changed their minds after returning home. The two players are expected to submit their version to PCB’s charge-sheet within the next week.
