APNS thanks PM for 15pc raise in govt ads’ rates
KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society President Sarmad Ali and Secretary General Umer Mujib Shami have expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his kind approval of 15 percent increase in the government advertisement rates for newspapers on behalf of the office-bearers and members of the society.
The APNS office-bearers stated that the notification issued by the federal government for the increase in the government advertisement rates was long due. The APNS has been urging the Federal Ministry of Information for an urgent increase as the rates were enhanced in 2012, with an assurance of annual increase of 10 per cent, but despite various assurances the increase was not implemented. This notification will be highly welcomed by newspapers, especially small and regional publications, as it would help the print media to cope with financial issues, owing to increase in costs over the years.
The APNS has expressed its thanks and appreciation to Minister of State for Information and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb for her support to the APNS in this matter and hoped that the print media would continue to receive such cooperation from the concerned ministry and the federal government.
