Illegal gateway exchange unearthed

KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its ongoing efforts to control grey trafficking has unearthed an illegal gateway exchange in Karachi, a statement said on Thursday.
A successful raid against the grey operator was carried out along with the FIA team at Patel Colony, Landhi, Karachi, it said, adding, an illegal exchange comprising one VoIP Gateway, eight ports, one modem and one LAN switch were confiscated.
One person was arrested and is in the FIA custody for further investigations.
The successful raids against the grey operators were made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by the PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic, thus, curtailing loss to the national exchequer.
