FAISALABAD: The Chinese Confucius Institute set up at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad has started functioning, which will help in further cementing ties between Pakistan and China.
It was echoed in an orientation of Chinese language in which Chinese delegation comprising Dr Yang Zhijiang and Li Yuxin gave training about the basic of Chinese language.
Dr Yang Zhijiang said that the Confucius Institute would build a strong connection between the two countries. He said that the centre would not only provide an opportunity to learn Chinese language but also to know about Chinese culture, food and music.
Li Yuxin said that Chinese language was easy to learn. He said that China had set up 475 Confucius Institutes and 851 Confucius Classrooms in 126 countries and regions with registered students amounting to 3.45 million.
Director External Linkages Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Chattha said that it was the third Confucius Institute established at the UAF after Islamabad and Karachi. He said that initially 32 students had been enrolled at the programme. He said that the classes would commence from January 15. Dr Tanvir Ali and others also spoke on the occasion.
