DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Punjab government has decided to get suggestions from tribal dignitaries regarding capacity-building, new recruitment and promotion of the Border Military Police officials serving in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
It was announced by Commissioner Saqib Aziz in a session here on Tuesday. The commissioner said the recommendations based on the suggestions and opinions of the tribal bigwigs would be sent to the provincial government for improving the existing network of the traditional force. He asked the participants to submit their proposals till January 19, saying the suggestions would be reviewed till January 21.
The commissioner said that the construction of roads was vital for the development of the tribal area and curbing crimes in the vast Suleman Ranges. The session was informed that the total tribal area was 6,475 square kilometres, which consists of 52 per cent area of Dera Ghazi Khan where the police stations run by the Border Military Police were 25. It was also informed that a large number of seats were vacant because no recruitment could be made during the last couple of years. The participants also agreed on the training of BMP officials on modern lines.
The participants include: Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, MPs Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Sardar Muhammad Jamal Khan Leghari, Meena Jaffar Leghari, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Buzdar, Sardar Abdul Qadir Khan Khosa, Sardar Shamsher Ali Khan Mazari, Sardar Tariq Mehmood Khan Mazari, Sardar Shakeel Haider Gorchani, Sardar Nawazish Ali Gorchani, Sardar Aurangzeb Khan, Mir Mirza Khan Talpur, Sardar Shehryar Khan Lound, Muhammad Akram Khan Dareshak, Additional Commissioner Coordination Qazi Zaffar Iqbal, Rajanpur DCO Ghazi Amanullah and Political Assistant Shahid Mehboob.
