Pakistan’s Trump: Sanaullah

LAHORE: Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Wednesday stated that JuD chief Hafiz Saeed had been detained by the orders of federal government and there was no evidence against him in Punjab. While talking to media outside Punjab Assembly, Rana Sanaullah also lambasted PTI leader during his media talk and termed him as ‘Donald Trump’ of Pakistan. He expressed that Pakistani masses had a narrow escape as they were about to elect Pakistan’s Donald Trump i.e., Imran Khan. The law minister also revealed that they would bury Imran Khan’s politics in 2018. Rana Sanaullah also gave a piece of his mind to Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmad. He professed that the opposition didn’t present any single evidence against PM in court.

 

Tayyaba torture case

Accused get extension in interim bail

ISLAMABAD: The interim bail of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali and his wife Maheen Zafar was extended till February 10 in the Tayyaba torture case. The extension was granted as the case was heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Asif Mehmood on Wednesday. Raja Khurram appeared before the court. The judge asked why Tayyaba was not presented and directed to ensure that she and her parents attended the next hearing.

Paramedics stage demo at LGH

LAHORE: The paramedical staff of Lahore General Hospital held a protest against the privatisation of public hospitals in the province. The paramedical staff boycotted their duties in outdoor and indoor wards of the LGH which hampered the health delivery services to patients. The patients, including those from suburban areas and other districts, were extremely upset by the situation particularly the indoor ward. The doctors and nurses, however, managed to provide treatment services to patients in the outdoor ward of the hospital. The emergency services  remain unaffected as paramedics continued to discharge duties there.

 

Siraj for unity against corruption, inflation

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq has said all political parties will have to fight against corruption and inflation in unison.

The Ssupreme Court sought evidence from the rulers to reach the truth, but shelter was being taken behind words to conceal the reality, he said while talking to journalists outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday.

He said there were names of over 600 people in the Panama scandal. Therefore, proceedings should be initiated against all by them. He said Jamaat approached the SC so that a comprehensive mechanism could be evolved against corruption.

Shahbaz orders proper method for

registration of taxi service operators

Lahore: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review matters of the private cab services, Uber and Careem, here on Wednesday. He directed the authorities concerned to resolve all the matters amicably and according to the legal requirements. He said if the people were getting good transport service, this model should be promoted. He said a proper method should be implemented for registration of operators of private taxi service. 

   

‘PR passengers to get wi-fi facility’

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has decided to provide every facility, including wi-fi, to passengers. The coverage of PTCL is not 100 per cent with the system of Pakistan Railways. These views were expressed by PR Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Javed Anwar. He directed the PTCL authority to ensure coverage to the railways premises. He directed the IT director to complete the projects of a call centre and public address systems. He directed the department concerned to continue work in railway workshops and provide necessary items to workshops. He instructed chief controller of stores to sell junk vehicles on better rates.

 

Two human traffickers arrested

LAHORE: FIA’s Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) on Wednesday caught ringleader of a gang along with his accomplice involved in looting people on the pretext of sending their children abroad. According to Ch Muhammad Ahmed, Deputy Director, FIA AHTC, an FIA team arrested accused Mazhar Iqbal from Lahore and his accomplice Zafar Iqbal from Gujranwala. He said the FIA received over 50 complaints of fraud/cheating against the accused. The official said the accused were involved in fraud/cheating a large number of people. He said the accused Mazhar had established an illegal consultancy business for sending people to Canada and the UAE some five years back. The AHTC in charge said the accused looted around Rs 10 to 12 million. An FIR has been registered against them. 

 

Search operations in Lahore

LAHORE: Police conducted search operations in the Main Bazaar Ichhara and Barkat Marker Garden Town on Wednesday. The police verified the identification papers of citizens through biometric machines. Similarly, police conducted a mock exercise in a local university in the Nishtar Colony area in which at least 50 officials participated.
