NOWSHERA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday asked the PTI chief Imran Khan ‘to sweep before his own door’ before pointing a finger at him and his family.

Addressing the Mufti Mehmood Conference on a football ground in Nowshera Kalan here, Fazl advised Imran to compare his father and grandfather with his (Maulana’s) father and grandfather besides comparing himself with the Maulana. He alleged that Imran was trying to put pressure on the Supreme Court to influence the PanamaLeaks case. "He has announced to take to the streets if the court did not decide the case in favour of the PTI," the JUI-F chief said. He said the PTI lacked a strategy to deal with the leaks issue.

"The PTI first announced a protest over the issue and then welcomed the notice taken by the Supreme Court. Now the party leadership is threatening to launch a protest campaign to influence the superior judiciary in the PanamaLeaks case," he said.  He said the PTI introduced and promoted a culture of abuse and disrespect in the country's politics and Imran Khan did not hesitate from character-assassination and personal attacks on his political opponents.

He asked Imran Khan to shun the politics of allegations or they would respond in the same manner.

"He (Imran Khan) would find no place to hide if we started talking about his past," he maintained.

Fazl alleged that the PTI was promoting vulgarity and obscenity in the country. He claimed that the PTI was receiving funds from the Jewish lobby to promote vulgarity in the country.

The JUI-F chief expressed disappointment over the way the political rivals criticised each other, saying politicians used abusive language against the rivals to force them to accept their demands.

He said the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had failed to bring about any change in the province and the party supporters and people.

The JUI-F chief said corruption was rampant in the province. "The PTI-led government broke all the previous records of corruption in the province," he added.

He said the managing director of Bank of Khyber had leveled allegations of corruption against a provincial minister but when the time came for investigation, the PTI formed a committee comprising its own ministers and lawmakers to probe the allegations which cleared the people against whom the charges of malpractices had been leveled.

He said the PTI-led government had set up the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission but weakened the body and made it ineffective by introducing amendment to the Ehtesab Act after the commission started investigation against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in corruption cases.

He predicted that the PTI and its allies would suffer a humiliating defeat in the 2018 general elections. "Even the JI chief Sirajul Haq would lose the election," he added.

The JUI-F chief criticised the rulers and leaders of the Muslims over what he called their silence on the atrocities being committed against the Muslims.

"The blood of Muslims is being shed around the globe but the leaders of the Muslim countries have tied their lips because they do not want to annoy the US," he said.
