ISLAMABAD: The country on Monday suffered a five-hour-long disruption in the PTCL landline, internet and cellular services due to multiple cable cuts at different places.

Sindh, Balochistan and parts of Punjab faced disruption in the landline, internet and cellular services.

The cables were damaged in Othal, Hub, Khuzdar and Sorab areas of Balochistan. These were also affected in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and Nooriabad areas of the port city of Karachi.

Meanwhile, the PTCL General Manager (PR) Imran Janjua said the suspended services had been fully restored.

He said the network was designed for business continuity and high availability. “However, due to abnormal cuts in our cables in different remote parts of the country, internet services were impacted which have been fully restored. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers.”

He said a high-level investigation committee had been constituted to determine the root cause of the outage.
