Ever-increasing population coupled with pollution in the air and on roads, non-availability of hygienic drinking water and other socio-economic problems have resulted in growing ailments and diseases of all sorts creating serious health problems for the people in the urban and rural areas of the country. This underlines a dire need for the provision of medical facilities to the sick people to help them overcome their ailments. Indeed the provincial governments are shouldering this in the best possible manner according to the available resources.

It is good to note that more than 40 state-of-the-art hospitals are going to be constructed by the federal government across the country in the next three years. Timely construction of these hospitals will surely go a long way in providing the latest healthcare facilities to the people helping them overcome both major and minor diseases.

Lack of indispensable micro-nutrients in children’s daily diets has resulted in severe malnourishment among children. This has resulted in stunted body growth of children. According to some media reports, one third of the children’s population of the country is malnourished. This hampers their good performance in their academic careers as well as making them vulnerable to various diseases.

The indigent segment of the country has no means to provide high quality food items which are rich in micro-nutrients to their children. It is also unfortunate that well-to-do families are unaware of the importance of rich-with-nutrients food items. A lot of parents let their children eat junk food items which are not good for the children’s health. Parents should only feed their children home cooked items.
