Ex-PPP lawmaker Begum Shahzada Suleman mourns son’s death
PESHAWAR: The death of known Chitrali physician Dr Salahuddin is still being mourned in his native area more than a week after he expired due to a heart problem.
The 41-year-old Dr Salahuddin was the youngest son of former Pakistan People's Party lawmaker Begum Shahzada Suleman. He died on December 10 in Peshawar where he had gone after learning about the crash of the PIA plane that had left Chitral for Islamabad as two of his close relatives were among its passengers.
Begum Shahzada Suleman, who is still in shock, said in a statement that she had decided to come to Peshawar as many of her well-wishers and PPP leaders wanted to come to Chitral to offer condolences to her on the death of her son.
She said rains, snowfall, extreme cold weather and poor roads were hurdles in reaching Chitral and for this reason she would come to Peshawar and be available at her residence, Chitral House, on Eidgah Road, Ashrafia Colony, on December 22 to receive mourners who want to visit her.
"I have lost a dear son. Dr Salahuddin loved his people and provided free treatment to the poor, widows, and orphans and paid for the education of needy students. People tell me that Chitral has been orphaned due to his death," Begum Shahzada Suleman said as she wept at the loss of her son.
