LAHORE: PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira has held PTI chief Imran Khan responsible for creating division in opposition ranks on the issue of holding the prime minister accountable in Panama Leaks case.

Addressing a press conference Friday, Kaira said it was Imran who changed his stance on the Panama Leaks Inquiry Bill after signing of the draft. Other party leaders Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Naveed Chaudhry, Azizur Rehman Chan etc were also present.

To a question, Kaira replied that it was PTI Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi who had hosted the joint opposition meeting where it was decided to launch a combined agitation movement in case the government did not accept the draft of Panama Bill prepared by the opposition parties. But after changing his stance it was incomprehensible that Imran was now saying the Panama Leaks Bill supported the Sharif family.

Kaira emphasised that PPP had always assembled the opposition parties on a single platform against dictators and also did the same on Panama Leaks issue by including all parties in drafting unanimous terms of reference.

But he regretted that Imran took a solo flight by unilaterally giving the Islamabad lockdown call a day after Qureshi had hosted the combined opposition parties meeting. He said even Jamaat-e-Islami and Aftab Sherpao’s Qaumi Watan Party did not support Imran’s protest despite being allies of PTI-led KP government.
