Sara, Mahin, Sarah enter tennis tourney semis
KARACHI: Sara Mansoor, Mahin Aftab and Sarah Mahboob recorded victories without conceding a single point to qualify for the ladies singles event semi-finals of the Serena Hotels Asian Tennis Tour Tournament at Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad on Thursday.
Sara Mansoor thrashed Shiza Sajid, Mahin Aftab dispatched Sara Mano, while Sarah Mahboob elbowed out Bakhtawar Haider to register identical 6-0, 6-0 triumphs. Meheq Khokhar also made it to the semi-finals after beating Shimza Tahir by 6-3, 6-4.
Twelve players were accepted in the main draw of men’s singles event as per the Asian Tennis Federation (ATT) acceptance list. Kashan Haq, Asad Khan, Gibran Haq and Moosa Chaudhry were given wild card entry by the organisers.
In U18 singles event quarter-finals, Muzammil Murtaza eliminated seventh seed Saqib Omer in straight sets by 6-2, 6-4.
