Samples of 59plane crash victims sent for DNA tests

ABBOTTABAD: The Forensic Department of Ayub Medical Complex here collected 59 samples for the DNA tests of the bodies of the persons killed in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash near Havelian. 

The report of the Forensic Department said the bodies were brought from the site
of the crash in the mountains near Havelian to the Ayub Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad.

It said that 59 packets were wrapped in 47 boxes before sending these for the DNA tests along with separate bottles for the traced evidence that included jackets, shirts, sweaters, wallets, jewellery, gloves, socks and cash.

A passenger, who wore a red and white coloured sweater had Rs40,000 cash on his person. Another one was carrying Rs10,000. A passenger identified as Samiullah was the employee of the Airport Security Force. He had a pistol and cellphone in his pocket and wore a golden watch.Another Airport Security Force employee Ahsan, who was identified by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), had Rs1,000 and an ID card in his possession.
