Between 1919 and 2016, planes met 20,787 accidents worldwide
LAHORE: Between 1919 and December 8, 2016, aircraft capable of carrying at least 12 passengers have met 20,787 accidents, which include 1,073 hijacking incidents and 999 other criminal occurrences leading to these aviation disasters, states a globally-acclaimed resource-gathering private and independent initiative called the Aviation Safety Network, which also covers accidents and safety issues with regards to airliners, military transport planes and corporate jets.
The 20-year old Aviation Safety Network, founded by a Dutch Harro Ranter, claims that presently over 9,900 people from 170 different countries subscribe its Accident Digest e-mail service and its website receives approx. 50,000 visits per week. The Aviation Safety Network Safety asserts its database contains detailed descriptions of over 20,300 incidents, hijackings and accidents.
