Films; movies or whatever you like to call them, can teach you many things about life and its complexities, as well as be a learning experience about many subjects especially those that are close to your heart and of interest. They can inspire you to do great things; work for a world filled with love and peace; stir a passion to do something worthwhile with your life; create awareness and so on.

The Second Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival will take place on December 10th and 11th at the Pakistan Council of the Arts (PNCA). The PNCA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage and Eyebex Films will screen a number of documentaries and films with diverse themes at this two day festival. The variety of screenings will surely be of interest to a wide section of society -- from a two minute animated film, ‘Save the Bees’ which emphasizes the important role bees play in our lives, to a full length documentary, ‘Cast Away Man,’ about Dar Bahadur Bista, Nepal’s most controversial intellectual in modern times who disappeared without a trace in 1996.

Trekking across glaciers; rock climbing; feats of courage; stories of men and women who have had the courage to fulfil their dreams despite the odds are some of the subjects that are covered in the films. In addition for those who are interested in knowing what the unsung heroes of Pakistan have achieved here’s your chance to find out.

The screenings will begin at 12 a.m. and continue till 10 p.m. on December 10th and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on December 11th.  Sixteen long and short films will be screened on the first day and twelve on the second with a short break in between multiple showings.
