Endless atrocities
The plight of the Rohingya Muslims calls for the attention of the entire Muslim world. These Muslims are a horrific image of a humanitarian crisis. They are being tortured, raped and killed by state forces, but no one is coming forward to help and save them from this barbarism. The Rohingya Muslims are not even considered citizens by the state. The community is subjected to the worst oppression in the world’s history. Thousands of tortured people have managed to flee Myanmar and take shelter in Bangladesh, but, reportedly, the country is turning them away. This has added more misery to the already helpless people.
To date, the UNHCR has made no significant development in handling this matter. The OIC should protest against these state-backed atrocities and take concrete steps to protect the Muslim community. It is time the entire Muslim world came together and fought against this heartrending tyranny and persecution.
