Demolition of decades-old bridge begins for BRTS projects
The demolition process of the decades-old Nazimabad Bridge began on Sunday to make way for the Orange and Green Line Bus projects – being constructed under Karachi’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS).

According to details, the demolition process of the bridge would take place in two phases. In the first phase the part of bridge connecting the Matric board office to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) would be brought down, whereas the part from the board office till Nazimabad would be demolished in the second phase.
People going towards Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, New Karachi and Surjani Town were expected to face severe problems owing to the demolition. The process of demolishing the bridge would go on for about a month.
Citizens had asked the administration to announce alternative routes before starting their work, the demolition, however, began without any of that happening.
