Robbers flee safely after looting car riders at Faisal Town traffic signal; govt spokesman says culprits will be arrested soon
LAHORE: The city first experienced targeted-killings, then robberies, and now rising incidents of street crimes have made Lahorites to shiver with fear. However, police are only making hollow claims about peace prevailing everywhere and keeping the law and order totally under control.
In the latest incident, at least three armed dacoits robbed a family at gunpoint in broad daylight at the Marriyan stop traffic signal in Faisal Town on the road leading to Jinnah Hospital Lahore, private TV channels’ footage showed on Monday. However, nobody came to their rescue at that time.
After the incident, the robbers fled the scene safely, waving their arms, without any interruption. In the presence of various police forces, including Dolphin, Mujahid Squad, etc, a broad daylight robbery has put a big question mark on the performance of law-enforcers.
Irfan Jahangir Wattoo, whopublicise the appalling incident which his family went through, said the video was taken by a bystander and witnessed the whole episode and recorded it as evidence.
“These are videos which were taken by someone in another car. I am grateful to him,” Irfan expressed his gratitude. Punjab government’s spokesman Zaeem Qadri promised that the culprits would be arrested and brought to justice at the earliest. He said currently total strength of Dolphin Force is 750 in Lahore, which would be increased to 1,300 in the coming months. He claimed that the new force has decreased street crime rate by 30 per cent in Lahore.
