NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Saturday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would accept the verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the PanamaLeaks case.

Speaking at a reception and a public meeting in Badrashi here, he said that the PTI and its chief Imran Khan has full confidence in the Supreme Court and would wholeheartedly accept its judgment. “The courts are deciding the matters on merit,” he added.

He said that the PTI was considering changing the panel of the lawyers, adding that the new ones would plead the cases diligently. He said that Imran Khan would announce the new panel of lawyers upon his return from the United Kingdom.

About a question regarding the PTI chief’s visit to UK, Pervez Khattak said that he did not know if Imran Khan and chief of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid Ahmad went to UK to bring more proofs about the London properties of Sharif family.

He said that Imran Khan’s visit to UK was a private one and he went to meet his children there.

He dispelled the impression that the PTI had a weak case and lacked evidence to present in the court against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children. He said that the PTI possessed enough evidence to prove its opponents guilty in the court of law.

He said there was contradiction in the statements of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children. He added that the affidavit submitted by the children in the Supreme Court contradicted the premier speech on the floor of the house and his address to the nation.

He maintained that no conclusion could be derived from the arguments between the judges and the lawyers in the Panama Leaks case. “The party has just begun. More things would unfold in the coming days,” he added.

About a question regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission, he said that the body was functional and process of accountability continued. However, he said that media was spreading disinformation in this regard.

The chief minister said that the PTI was implementing its agenda of change in letter and spirit. “We have implemented our election manifesto to a large extent and honoured the commitments we had made with the people,” he added.

He said that the PTI-led government has focused its energies on health and education sector. He said that the provincial government had issued funds to village councils to clean drains, cities and villages and carried out fumigation.

The chief minister also announced construction of a girl’s college in Khatokhel area, construction of a protection wall around a graveyard in Miangan area and approved transformers and pavement of streets there.

Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel, District Nazim Liaqat Khattak, Member National Assembly Imran Khattak and others were also present.

Later, the chief minister went to the residence of Hashim Ali Khan in Manki Sharif and offered condolence to his family on his demise. The chief minister also visited the hujra of Imtiaz Ali and offered condolence and fateha over his mother’s death.
