CII takes up issue of ‘domestic torture on man’
Says women also break men’s arms
ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) on Tuesday observed that women also broke arms of the men and there should be men protection commission.
The CII accepted a request from one of its members to discuss the issue relating to protection of man from domestic torture. In a letter written to CII Chairman Maulana Mohammad Sheerani, the CII member Sahibzada Zahid Qasmi has proposed that a bill be passed for the protection of men’s rights.
Qasmi requested the council to make recommendations prepare draft of a bill aiming at protection of rights of men as was done in case of protection of women bill. The Council of Islamic Ideology is a constitutional body which advises the Parliament carry out legislation in the light of teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. However, the CII recommendations are not binding on Parliament. Qasmi said that Islam grants rights to men as well and in the society those rights were being violated.
He said that some women call their brothers, fathers and other relatives to take violent measures against their husbands. In various districts of Punjab, several cases have come forth where men’s nails have been pulled out or their hands and feet have been cut off,” he said.
He said if a man forces his wife out of the house, there are shelter homes available for her to go to but no such facility is available for a man. “I have written a letter to the chairman asking that the matter be taken up for debate and recommendations keeping in view the holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)," Zahid Qasmi in his letter said.
