Addressing a condolence reference here on Tuesday, PLF former vice-president Malik Tariq Saeed said that Jehangir Badr was born in 1944 before the creation of Pakistan. He said that Badr put up a tough fight against dictatorship during the rules of Field Marshal Ayub Khan and Gen Ziaul Haq. He said that Jehangir Badr was committed to democracy as a resolute political worker. He fought for the rights of the downtrodden classes because he was their leader. The PPP leader started his political carrier under the leadership of PPP chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He was among the close political companions of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Tariq Saeed added. He said that Badr was recognised for empowering political workers and mobilising the people for democracy. He was a genuine political worker and loyal to his ideology and Bhutto family, Tariq Saeed added. He said that Jehangir Badr was a worthy asset of the PPP and his death would be mourned by all political workers.

PLF former divisional president Tariq Khan said that Jehangir Badr always took pride for having worked closely with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

PLF former information secretary Khawaja Munawar Siddique said that Jehangir Badar remained with the PPP even in hard times. He said that the death of Jehangir Badr was a big tragedy for the party. He said that the late PPP stalwart suffered the hardships of imprisonment during the dictatorship of Gen Ziaul Haq and Gen Pervez Musharraf.
