ISLAMABAD: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was creating hurdles for the country’s development.

He was addressing a news conference along with Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Daniyal Aziz.

Saad said Imran was going to become a threat for the country due to his immature politics. He advised him to leave politics and start working as a fast bowling coach since he could not do politics. He said Imran tried his best to make the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project controversial just for getting petty gains. The Chinese president could not visit Pakistan due to the PTI sit-in in 2014. The PTI was responsible for the delay in the inauguration of the CPEC project. Imran did politics in Pakistan but supported a Jewish candidate against a Muslim for the seat of London mayor.

He said Imran’s politics had damaged the Kashmir cause. The Indian media highlighted the PTI boycott of the joint session of parliament on Kashmir last month. He regretted the PTI decision to boycott again the joint session of parliament to be addressed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He advised Imran to participate in the joint session on November 17. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was never involved in money-laundering. He said Pakistan would continue its moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir. How long India would continue barbarism against innocent Kashmiris, he said.

Saad said the PTI chairman levelled allegations against the prime minister and when he was asked to produce evidence, he brought garbage as proof for the Supreme Court. He said that in 1972, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) adopted nationalisation and many families shifted their business abroad. The Sharif family was one of them. Nawaz Sharif’s father had good business relations with foreign dignitaries and was offered to do business in Dubai. So he established the Gulf Steel Mill.

Anusha Rehman said the prime minister’s son was not bound to appear before any court but he presented himself just for the sake of transparency. Now it had been proved before the court and the nation that the PTI had no evidence against the Sharifs, she said.

Tariq Fazal said politics was the name of understanding and sensibility, but the PTI could not understand those norms. He said the PTI even failed to provide relevant evidence before the judicial commission on rigging in the 2013 general elections. The PTI should come up with evidence on the Panama Papers if it had any. He said the prime minister’s name was not on those papers but even then he presented himself for accountability.Daniyal Aziz said Imran was the founder of offshore business while Jehangir Tareen had admitted that he used to do business in the name of his driver and cook.
