Over 150 companies and business firms representing 25 countries, five ambassadors of different countries, and more than 70 national companies registered at UMT International Business Conference and Exhibition (IBCE-2016).
According to a press release, Ministry of Finance, Board of Investment, Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, Ministry of Economy Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Health, International University of Japan, Istanbul University, Netsol Technologies and other institutions and organisations are going to participate in the conference, and 10,000 visitors, particularly young entrepreneurs visited the event. Pakistan’s national media gave exclusive and live coverage to IBCE.
Slightly fewer than one in four national delegates to the conference were women. The conference provided a rare opportunity for extensive discussion on ‘leading business transformation’ for business, technology, entrepreneurship, diplomacy, cultural and educational challenges and innovation as we are entering 2017. The participants analysed where the current business stands today; how business leadership and economic transformation could take its roots; what is technology catch up and what are future challenges for developing countries; what measures should be taken to streamline linkages among government academia and industry; how young entrepreneurs could play their critical role in socio-economic development of the country; least but not the last, what is China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and how it is paving way for a future business landscape. The participants established what efforts should be invested to make business education, science and technology in response to both these expectations and the challenges posed by the future technology and emerging sciences.
The concluding session of UMT conference and technical exhibition was attended by Nepalese, Portuguese and Italian ambassadors who chaired various sessions designed on particular themes.
Rector of University of Management and Technology (UMT) appreciated the role of national and multinational companies in economic development of the country. He said academia, industry and government should come forward to collaborate with one another so without which the dream of national progress could not be fulfilled. The participants were able to exchange in depth on the topics of the conference and to come forward with ideas and proposals.
