Ibrahim clinches tennis tourney title
KARACHI: Ibrahim Iltafat overpowered Zubair Raja in straight sets in the final and clinched men’s singles title in the 2nd Abdul Majeed Trophy Tennis Championship, which concluded here on Monday at the Union Club.
Ibrahim easily took the first set against Zubair by 6-3 score. However, Zubair put some resistance in the second set before conceding it by 7-5 score.
In U17 singles’ final, Zubair won the match against Talha Sohail after recovering from a set down to record 1-6, 6-2, 10-6 victory in a thrilling encounter.
In U15 final, Syed Muhammad Oanuddin dropped a set before beating Gufran Fiaz by 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 score.
In U13 climax, Mohammad Abdullah defeated Ghufran Fiaz by 8-5 score. Mohammad Abdullah also won U11 final, beating Sarim Imran by 8-0 score. In U9 final, Zain Ehtisham overpowered Abdullah Imran by 8-1 score.
In ladies singles summit clash, Hania Naveed proved too good for Syeda Eraj Batool Zaidi and registered a convincing 8-0 win. In soft tennis event final, Noor-e-Mustafa defeated Ibrahim by 5-1 score.
