Four robbers killed in ‘encounter’

CIA Iqbal Town Police have killed four robbers in an ‘encounter’ staged at a house in Lakhoder village, the Manawan police limits in the wee hours of Friday.
Police raiding team ‘miraculously’ remained unhurt during the encounter. The accused robbers have been identified as Usman Gujjar, Shakir, Amjad alias Amjoo and Arfan alias Fani.
CIA Police Iqbal Town had arrested two members of Gujjar Dacoit Gang. On investigation, they revealed information about their accomplices hiding in a house in Yaseen Garden in Sharifpura in the Manawan police limits. The police on identification of the arrested accused persons conducted raid at the said house.
As they reached the place and knocked at the door of the house, one of the accused persons opened the door and started indiscriminate firing. As a result, four of the accused persons received bullet injuries. And, three or four other members of the gang fled the scene while firing at police party. The police called on Police Helpline 15 for back-up and SHO and Incharge Investigation of Manawan and a heavy contingent of police of the nearby areas reached the spot. The injured accused persons were rushed to hospital where they died.
They were involved in many heinous crimes like fleeing after breaking prison, police encounters, robbery-cum-murder, and looting the people in police uniform in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Nankana. Police have removed the bodies to morgue.
Incharge Investigations Manawan, Riasat Ali Dogar said the encounter occurred at around 4:45am. He said that CIA police had already informed them about their raid to arrest accused persons and the two accused persons who were in the custody of the police died due to firing of the robbers. The arrested accused persons were handcuffed and tied with police van. When the firing started, police officials took positions and covers while tied accused robbers were hit during indiscriminate firing. He said the people living in the rented house where the dacoits were hiding were involved in suspicious activities. One of them always sat alert on the roof to keep an eye in the street and the surroundings. He said that they would also interrogate the owner of the house.
