Unpaid Ghazi University teachers
to go on strike from tomorrow

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The teaching and other staff of the Ghazi University have announced to go on strike if their salaries were not paid to them till Monday (tomorrow).
It is learnt that the varsity’s treasurer Prof Nadeem Ahmadani went abroad for completing his PhD degree and he had the authority to release salaries of the varsity staff. Now without having regular vice-chancellor as the VC was terminated couple of months ago. When contacted, an official of the varsity said that a three-member committee, Prof Najeeb Haidar, Prof Shafqat Nawab and Prof Rashida Qazi, had called an emergency meeting in which three names of the faculty members were recommended for appointing acting VC and acting treasurer. The official said that as one name finalises for acting VC, salaries would be paid to the staff.
Free cattle distribution from Nov 9
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Free cattle distribution among widows will start from Nov 9, said DO Livestock Dr Toseef Tahir on Saturday.
Talking to journalists here, he said over 520 sheep and goats would be distributed among women of Tehsil Chutta and 400 buffaloes and cows at Tehsil Taunsa. He said applications regarding cattle distribution were being received under poor welfare scheme initiated by the Punjab government. According to the eligibility criteria, the applicant woman must have ownership of one acre land, she should be resident of same village and one of her children should be admitted to government school. The woman would not be allowed to sell the cattle for at least three years, he added.
