Women get scooties
LAHORE
Community Support Concern Pakistan (CSCP) holds an event on Friday (today) to give scooties to the women trained by the traffic police.
The CSCP is organising the event following its vision to shake up the present state of affairs in which most women in the country do not have access to their own transport.
CSC, CEO, Shaista Jan said the project was conceived from within the organisation itself, where several working women found it hard to use public transport to visit various locations the CSC has been working in.
She said: “Not all women can afford cars. This leaves a vast majority of women dependent on male members of their family or an inefficient public transport system. The project was conceived initially to solve transport problems of women working with the CSC and expanded after several others expressed interest. Members of civil society organisations are going to join in this event.” This is a part of CSC’s project, Women Ride with Pride, which offers women scooties as a loan product.
