Militant arrested in Matta

MINGORA: The Counter-Terrorism Department of the police arrested a militant associated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Matta tehsil of Swat district, official sources said on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, the CTD conducted a raid in Durushkhela area of Matta and arrested the alleged militant identified as Gul Rehman, sources said. They added that Gul Rehman was serving as a treasurer of the banned TTP, Swat chapter, in 2008. He was also wanted to the police for an attack on the security forces in 2008 in which five security forces personnel had wounded. Following the arrest, the militant was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Body of youth found in Jamrud
JAMRUD: The body of a youth was found in Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency, official sources said on Thursday.Taking action on the information, the personnel of Khassardar force rushed to Char Maro area in Jamrud tehsil and found the body of a youth identified as Nazar Khan, a resident of Bara.The sources said that unidentified persons had killed the youth and dumped the body in Char Maro area.
Anniversary of attack on Matta tehsil marked

MINGORA: The residents of various villages Thursday marked the anniversary of the gruesome militants’ attack in Matta tehsil in Swat district in which 13 members of a family were killed. Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Sher Khan Khaista and others said the militants had brutally killed 13 members of a family in Gwalerey in 2008 to sabotage peace in the region. They said maintaining peace in the region was responsibility of every citizen of the country. People of the region had played vital role in maintaining peace, they added. “Those who laid down their lives for peace would always be remembered,” Muhammad Khan said, adding that anti-state elements would not succeed in their nefarious designs.

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists on Thursday staged protest here against the arrest of party activists in Islamabad.Carrying placards and banners, the activists gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and chanted slogans against the federal govt. They also marched up to the governor’s house. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak through a statement condemned the arrest of party workers and termed it an undemocratic act.
