Social work studies
According to recent news, a well-known college of Karachi is deciding to close down the department of Social Work Studies. Our society is going through a lot of social problems and there is a great need to continue teaching the subject of ‘Social Work’ in all degree colleges of the city. It has been observed that teaching staff for the subject is quite low. Also, the number of students opting for the subject is declining rapidly. The education department of the government must find out why there are not enough teachers. If teachers are upset over their pay-scale, the government should take measures to solve the matter.
The government of Sindh and other concerned institutions are requested to look into this decision and allocate financial resources for the development of the social work studies department.
