Lawyers observe strike in KP to protest Quetta massacre
PESHAWAR: The legal fraternity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday observed a complete strike to protest the attack on the Police Training College in Quetta in which police recruits and security personnel were killed.
The lawyers’ bodies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and Peshawar High Court Bar Association, observed the strike on the call of Pakistan Bar Council.
In the provincial metropolis, the lawyers also stayed away from the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and subordinate courts. The courts adjourned the cases due to lawyers strike against the terrorist attack in Quetta.
Separately, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) office-bearers, including President Muzzamil Khan and general secretary Yousaf Ali, visited the Mardan Bar Association.
Press secretary of PHCBA, Bilal Khan Khalil, also handed over a cheque for over Rs1 million to Ameer Hussain, president of Mardan Bar Association, for Shuhada and injured lawyers of Mardan district courts suicide attacks.
Senior lawyers, including Ijaz Khan Sabi, chairman executive committee KP Bar Council, Yousaf Riaz Khalil, Zahid Jamal Bacha, member KP Bar Council and vice-president of PHC Bar Association were also present in the meeting.
