‘Orange Train staff be hired after verification’

Comprehensive security measures should be adopted for guarding the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project from any untoward incident and contractors should thoroughly verify credentials of individuals before hiring them as skilled or non-skilled labour for the project.

Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, Chairman of the steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project, directed this while chairing the weekly progress review meeting here Wednesday. He directed for carrying out body search of the individuals going inside the site offices, casting yards and other places associated with the project for this purpose.

He observed that our soldiers are offering great sacrifices for eliminating terrorism which will never waste. The meeting also offered Fateha for the martyrs of Quetta tragedy. Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan said that orange train would provide an economic, safe and latest mode of transportation to common citizens besides conferring a sense of self-respect on them.

This project is not meant only for the people of Lahore or Punjab, it has a national significance as it will set precedent for commencing more such projects in other cities of the country, he added. Metro Train system is successfully functioning in 153 cities of the world and its operation in Lahore will include the provincial metropolis in the list of international cities, he maintained. Khawaja Hassaan urged Wasa, PTCL and other departments for safeguarding their manholes and cover them for avoiding fatal incidents.
