Chairs meeting of law, order committee; orders tight security

LAHORE

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of Provincial Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on Tuesday. 

The meeting condemned the terrorist attack on Quetta Police Training Centre and expressed grief over the loss of precious human lives. The participants of the meeting paid tributes to the sacrifices of martyrs and expressed sympathies and condolence with the bereaved families. 

The chief minister said that Punjab government equally shared the grief of the bereaved families. He said that the resolve of the brave nation which rendered supreme sacrifices in the war against terrorism could not be weakened. He directed that all necessary measures should be taken for protection of life and property of people and police and law enforcement agencies should remain alert for maintaining peace. He said that a vigilant eye should be kept on miscreants and security of important places should be further improved.

The chief minister said that full attention should be paid to security of mosques, Imambargahs, educational institutions and parks. He said that institutions concerned should perform their duties with mutual coordination to foil the nefarious designs of the enemy. 

The Punjab chief minister announced one day mourning on Quetta tragedy in the province. National flag flew at half-mast on government buildings throughout the province on Tuesday.

 The chief minister said the Punjab government and the people were with government and people of Balochistan in this hour of distress.
