PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb and border management considerably improved the law and order situation in the province.

“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government never stressed for forced repatriation of Afghan refugees,” he said while talking to a group of journalists, said an official statement.

The chief minister appreciated the army chief and law enforcing agencies for the improved situation in KP. He said that extortions, kidnapping and crimes were now things of the past in the province.

Regarding the November 2 rally, the chief minister demanded the prime minister to appear before the court and clear his name legally, otherwise the PTI along with the masses would keep on agitation.

Pervez Khattak said that in the previous government, he had lost all hopes and was thinking to be part of the revolution because he was against the status quo. Regarding the local government system, he said his government devolved power and authority to the grassroots level and empowered the district government system to deliver.  “It transferred Rs33 billion to the local government system and gave a plan as to what sector should get how much resources at local level,” he added.

Responding to a question, the chief minister said that though he brought legislations, still he was working on the rules of business. He advised against negativity and asked for the positive frame of mind to ensure the public welfare.

He spoke against the forest mafia and said that the corrupt rulers supported the forest mafia in the past but the present Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not give any space to the forest mafia and totally banned the cutting of forests.

The chief minister said that this province and the whole of the country were ruled by the corrupt that brought untold miseries and hardships to the people.  “Nobody could escape the blame for bringing this country to this pass,” he added. He said the bureaucracy had failed to give any positive suggestion for rectifying the past mistakes.

His government reforms and record legislations should be a foundation for the future good governance, he added.
