Dacoits continue looting spree in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Locals were robbed of cash, gold ornaments, cellphones, and other valuables in several incidents in different areas of Gujranwala on Thursday.
In city Wazirabad police limits three bandits barged into the shop of Sarfraz and took away cash and valuables.Jehangir was deprived of Rs 8,000, a cellphone and a new motorcycle by dacoits in Sabzi Mandi police area.
In Gujranwala Sadar police limits four robbers entered the house of Adil and snatched cash, gold ornaments and valuables.Saleem was deprived of Rs 25,000 and a mobile phone in Sadar Kamoke police limits.
Mudassar was also deprived of Rs 20,000 and two cell phones in Sadar Kamoke police limits.In Sadar Wazirabad police limits robbers snatched Rs 21,000 and three cellphones from Waleed.
Moazam was deprived of Rs 35,000 and a cellphone at Ferozwala.In Baghbanpura, Asif was deprived of Rs 10,000 and a cellphone.Gunmen intercepted Maqsood in Ahmednagar and snatched Rs 15,000 and two mobile phones from him.
In Cantt area robbers snatched Rs 15,000 and a cellphone from Mohsin.At Ladhewala Warriach bandits snatched Rs 20,000 and a cellphone from Ali.Bandits barged in to the house of Allah Ditta in Sohdra and took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables.
In Khiali robbers entered the shop of Hashim and took away cash and valuables.In Kotwali area two swindlers deprived Nabeel of Rs 25,000 and a cellphone. New motorcycle of Asif was stolen from Kotwali area.
MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT: A man died and the other sustained injuries in a collision between two motorcycles on Hafizabad Road, Gujranwala on Thursday.Reportedly, Fakhir Hussain was going to Hafizabad and near Manawala turn his motorbike collided with the motorcycle of Ghulam Nabi.As a result, Fakhir died on the spot and Ghulam Nabi received injuries and was rushed to the DHQ Hospital.
Two injured as two groups trade fire

GUJRANWALA: Two people, including a woman, were injured in a shootout between two groups at Banike Cheema on Thursday. There was a dispute between Usman and Rana Saif groups over watering the fields. On the day of the incident, both groups attacked and opened fire at each other. As a result, Noreen and Irshad of Usman group were injured. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital. Gakhar Mandi police have registered a case.
Contract staffers stage demo

GUJRANWALA: Dozens of contractual employees of the Punjab Agriculture Department Water Management Wing staged a demonstration for regularisation of their jobs in front of the press club here on Thursday. They chanted slogans against the government. The protesters claimed that they had been working on contract for the last 12 years. They further claimed that they had also been unpaid for the last some months. They said that they were facing several problems due to non-payment of salaries. They demanded regularisation of their jobs and immediate payment of their salaries.
