Islamabad: After the approval of funds for the payment of denied salary, the Youth Teachers Association Islamabad has asked the Federal Directorate of Education’s daily-wage teachers to resume duty at Islamabad’s government schools forthwith.
These daily wagers have been boycotting schools for many weeks over denial of salary. They even staged rallies in the capital, including outside the Federal Directorate of Education, against non-payment of salary for three months.
The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) regulates the ICT educational institutions through the FDE. According to an Accountant General of Pakistan Revenues letter written to the CADD, the president of the country has sanctioned the re-appropriation of Rs42.995 million worth of funds for disbursement among FDE daily-wage employees working at model colleges at the rate of Rs14,000 per month as salary for the period from August 8, 2016 to October 31, 2016.
Now, in light of the development, the YTA has asked daily wagers to end boycott of duty and resume classes immediately. There are around 2,000 FDE staff members working in Islamabad’s government schools and colleges on daily wage basis.
