Police probe death of couple, kids

Police probe death of couple, kids

LAHORE

Sadr investigation team has started probing the killing of four members of a family in Nawab Town, keeping in view different aspects including murder, killing-cum-suicide and honour killing.

The bodies were handed over to the victims’ family after postmortem. However, autopsy report is yet awaited. Police visited the crime scene again, reconstructed the crime and collected forensic evidence. Finger prints and murder weapon have been sent to Punjab Forensic Science Agency. The investigators still believed the head of the family had first killed his wife and two children and later committed suicide with the newly-bought knife, which was recovered from the spot. It is being feared Maalik was perturbed over his financial issues and he took this extreme step in dejection. It is also learnt the couple used to scuffle over domestic disputes. However, locals of the area believed some unknown suspects had killed the victims. A special police team has also been sent to Pattoki in the native town of Maalik to probe the motive behind killings. Maalik, his wife Aasia, and two children were found killed at their home on Tuesday. The locals of the area were still panicked due to horrific incident. SP Sadr Investigation said it is too early to ascertain the motive behind the killing. The accounts of locals, victims’ family members and forensic evidence would help resolve the mystery, he maintained.
